FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQs for EPOS, the musical based on the Nibelungen saga. Here we answer your questions about our crowd investment project. Find out more about how the investment model works, how the funds are used and how you can benefit from it.

  • What are the funds raised on Global Rockstar used for?
The funds will enable a 12-day workshop culminating in two performances on 30 and 31 August 2024. A top-class cast will present a preliminary version of the musical EPOS (approx. 24 songs) as a concert performance. Depending on the amount raised, a minimum version (EUR 18,000 direct costs), a medium version (EUR 30,000 direct costs) or a maximum version (EUR 45,000 direct costs) can be implemented.
  • What is the aim of the workshop?
The workshop has two main objectives: - Presentation of the musical EPOS to key people in the international musical industry (producers, theaters, directors, librettists, managers, etc.) in order to win them over as partners for the production and performance of EPOS on the big stage. - Assessment of the current status to identify possible adaptations of the book, dramaturgy, music and roles.
  • Who manages the use of the funds?
The funds will be managed by EPOS Musical Development FlexCo, a music publishing company founded and managed by Zoë Straub. The proper use of the funds will be monitored by Global Rockstar GmbH. All funds raised, less Global Rockstar's platform fee (10%), will be solely for the workshop, the performances on August 30 and 31, 2024 and their documentation. EPOS Musical Development FlexCo will provide detailed expenditure reports.
  • What happens if the funding target is not reached?
The minimum funding target for the realization of the workshop is 20,000 EUR (18,000 direct costs + 2,000 EUR platform fee from Global Rockstar). If this target is not reached, all investors will receive their investment back in full. Given the current funding status and the commitments of trusted partners, we are optimistic that we will reach the minimum funding target soon.
  • What happens if the minimum funding target of EUR 20,000 is exceeded?
If funding exceeds EUR 20,000, the workshop and performances can be performed at a higher level on 30 and 31 August 2024. With a larger budget, we can: • Increase the number of actors (ensemble members). • Expand the production team. • Outsource more audio pre- and post-production. • Improve video documentation of the workshops and performances. •Add visual elements, animations and scene moods.
  • When and how do I benefit from my investment?
Step 1: Investors double their investment if a producer finances the production of the musical for a theater with more than 300 seats. Here's how it works: Option 1: The producer pays an upfront fee to EPOS Musical Development FlexCo to compensate for the development to date. Investors are the first to receive 200% of their investment back. Option 2: If no upfront fee is paid, investors will receive a pro-rata share of 100% of the revenue from the publisher's share of ticket sales until they have doubled their investment. This will be achieved after an estimated 100 performances, each of which will sell 1000 tickets at an average net price of EUR 50. Step 2: Investors earn up to 500% ROI! After doubling their initial investment, investors receive a pro-rata share of 15% of the revenue from the publisher's share of ticket sales. An ROI of 500% is achieved after an estimated 1100 performances, at each of which 1000 tickets are sold at an average net price of 50 EUR.
  • What is my share a percentage of?
Zoë Straub has founded EPOS Musical Development FlexCo (EPOS FlexCo), which operates as a music publishing company. EPOS FlexCo has signed publishing agreements with Zoë as EPOS' composer, lyricist and librettist, which stipulate that EPOS FlexCo will receive one-third of the revenues from the exploitation of EPOS's grand right (the grand right is a form of music licensing that specifically covers the right to perform musical compositions in the context of a dramatic work). Usually, the authors of musicals receive royalties from ticket sales (6-8% is standard). In our model, assuming a total of 6% royalties, the split is 4% for Zoë as the author and 2% for EPOS FlexCo. Investors receive their share from the 2% that EPOS FlexCo receives from each net ticket sale (the pro-rata share for investors is calculated from 100% of the 2% in the first step, and in the second step, after doubling the initial investment from 15% of the 2%).
  • Can I see the contract before investing?
Yes, the Investor Agreement (Royalty Agreement) is available in English and German on the EPOS investment site Global Rockstar.
